DC comic portfolio reviews are over and done with. And what do you know? It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. People actually liked my stuff. Though I know that they never in a billion years would offer me a job, but it was nice to know their opinions about what I do.
Here are some tips that some of the editors told me in case anybody is interested:
They are looking to hire people with 3 qualities
1- Talented
2- On time
3- A nice person.
If you have 2 of these three qualities, they might still hire you. But if you have only one that’s a big no no. so if you’re talented, but you’re always late and you’re an asshole, they will never hire you. If you have all three, good for you.
Another thing they told me was to shoot for higher than you want. Say if you want to be an Editor, shoot for writing. If you want to be a production worker, shoot for editing etc etc.
They also told me to send them updates every now and then. But not once every 2 weeks, Because that would make them desensitized to your work, and they will start ignoring it. But if you do work for 6 months, and send them the best of your best, then they might one glorious day be interested in hiring you.
